NOT THE NORTHGATE - I am an independent songwriter and recording artist based in Bristol.

The project began during a particularly challenging period of life. What started as a way of getting through a very difficult time became a 13-track album and the beginning of Not The Northgate.

​

Without formal musical training and with no previous history of performing or releasing music, I wrote, performed, and recorded this entire 13-track debut album independently.

​

The tracks explore themes of lost love, emotional conflict, identity, social media culture, and wider reflections on contemporary life and global events.

​

The music sits within the indie pop-rock tradition while maintaining a distinctive and self-defined sound.

 

Early demo recordings from the project were submitted through BBC Music Introducing via BBC Bristol and were subsequently forwarded for consideration by BBC Radio 1 Rock Introducing producers. With this encouragement, I have reproduced them and they have been professionally mixed and mastered in Bristol.

Not The Northgate remains an entirely independent project built outside traditional industry pathways.

 

My debut album P A R A L Y X I U M  represents both a personal turning point and the beginning of a wider creative journey.
